Finley Spathaky

Finley is a cellist and educator who began learning the cello at the age of five through the Suzuki method, an experience that laid the foundations for both his musicianship and his approach to teaching. He has since completed both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in cello performance, developing a broad technical and musical skill set.

During his studies, Finley participated in masterclasses with leading cellists including Julian Lloyd Webber, Jian Wang, Hannah Roberts and István Várdai. He has been recognised through competition success, reaching the finals of the John Barbirolli and Ambache Prize competitions and winning the Eleanor Warren Salon Prize.

Finley has a deep love for the cello and for music across a wide range of genres. He is passionate about sharing this enthusiasm through his teaching, creating an encouraging and engaging learning environment that supports students of all ages and abilities while fostering confidence, curiosity and a lifelong enjoyment of music.
